I am westbound on the Mass Pike, fiery sunrise painting the sky behind me. Today’s paleo road trip takes me to Amherst MA. One of my favorite things about this area is its cluster of colleges. A paleo road trip I took in mid-November: It’s that cold grey time of year. Autumn color has faded, winter cheer is not quite here. My body and soul are craving a dose of brightness and warmth! A day trip to the western Mass town of Northampton will solve this. Northampton, a hippy haven, restaurant mecca, with a happening cultural scene and cool shops, is also the home of the Victorian era Lyman Plant House and Smith College Art Museum. Today I’m taking a paleo road trip up to one of my favorite Cape Ann communities, Gloucester, Massachusetts. This historic working fishing town has rugged coastal beauty, maritime traditions and summer-perfect beaches, which for centuries have attracted artists. A wonderful display of this art, old and new, can be found at the Cape Ann Museum… but first breakfast, I’m hungry!
